Milwaukee Brewers activate Kolten Wong, place Jace Peterson on Injured List

    in General Discussions

The Milwaukee Brewers activated Gold Glove-winning second baseman Kolten Wong on Friday morning, bringing him back from the 10-day Injured List after he was afflicted with what ended up being a relatively minor oblique issue Corbin Burnes Pillow Cover. Wong appeared in seven games before getting laid up, hitting in 26 plate appearances but with his typically excellent defense at the keystone. Wong told reporters that he felt 100% healthy for at least the last three days, including testing the oblique with some check swings to make sure he was comfortable getting back into the batter box. To make room for Wong on the active roster Hunter Strickland Hoodie, hel be replaced on the IL by the man who filled in at second base while Wong was on the shelf. Jace Peterson dealt with a thumb issue and was limited during Spring Training, and according to manager Craig Counsell, the problem never completely healed and now the hope is that a pause on the Injured List will give Peterson enough time to fully recover. Counsell did praise Peterson, saying he tough kid for playing through the thumb injury and helping win some games with big hits. In 10 games and 28 plate appearances, Jace hit with a pair of home runs. In other injury news, it was revealed that Christian Yelich will not be ready to return from the IL tomorrow when he is first eligible https://www.milwaukeefanstoreonline.com/Miguel_Sanchez_Hoodie-115. The former MVP is hitting in 9 games, but hasn played since April 11th with a back issue. Yelich is said to be progressing in the right direction, but the back problems have been recurrent throughout his career. Statistics courtesy of Baseball-Reference
